So Much Happening!

September 20, 2019

Dear Families,

It's been a busy and fun week in D114! We're so proud of our students...and so lucky to have our amazing staff working with them. And we are so thankful for YOUR, our families, for all your support! Please read on for this week's updates...

District Updates

NEW BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBER
WELCOME, BRIAN HUTCHINSON! At its meeting last night, the D114 Board of Education appointed Brian to the open Board position. With two children currently in the district, Brian hopes to contribute on behalf of the district and the children of our community would be beneficial for all involved.

Brian brings  a well-rounded, open minded perspective on both the educational and business issues that face the district at this time. Having served both Ronald McDonald House of Chicago and Northwest Indiana and the Richmond Wrestling Club, his past opportunities will lend well to this position.

We're thrilled to welcome Brian to the team during these critical times for our District!

And...on September 27, we'll celebrate...

Day of Service--Where do the donations go?
As you know, this is D114's fifth year of celebrating the Day of Service. This is our one and only District fundraiser of the year. Where do the funds raised go?

  • To fund all PTA activities and events.
  • To provide teacher grants for special projects.
  • To provide teacher teams with supplies and materials when they make proposals.
  • To fund specific school projects like the Lotus climbing wall and the NEW Stanton sign---which is slated to be installed NEXT WEEK!
This year's Day of Service dollars will, of course, fund our awesome PTA's efforts, but will also pay for materials and expanded programming for Lotus' STEM classes and Stanton's Exploratory (Art, Music, Spanish, STEM) classes. Every single dollar makes a difference, and we have a foundation who had promised to match our funding!

We truly appreciate all our community donors and especially the hard work our students and families put in to make this effort happen. WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL!

If you or anyone you know would like to donate online, all you have to do is follow this link!

Thanks to each and every staff member and student for your acts of kindness and service in
the community. The Day of Service wouldn't happen without YOU! A special thank you to our Kindergarten students and staff---they'll be making and giving away FREE dog treats! Please see the flyer attached to this week's email for information.

DAY OF SERVICE PLEDGES CAN BE MADE ONLINE THROUGH THE WEEKEND!

STANTON SIGN
The new Stanton sign project is nearing completion! The sign is onsite, and next week the power will be connected and software installed so it lights up with information! Can’t wait to see it working. Major appreciation to the D114 PTA and our generous donors for making this project a reality:

and
Soffeitti, Johnson, Teegen, Phillips & Arguetta, LTD

A special thank you also goes to Nancy Koske for your personal support of this project!

WHERE'S THE BUS?
Please remember to install Ride 360 app on your phone! This allows you to see where your child’s bus is in real time. You'll need your child's Skyward ID to log in, and the directions are attached to this week's email. Please contact Andrea DeMatteo at 847-973-4037.
