Wishing You a Wonderful Winter Break!

December 20, 2019

Dear Families,

All of us in D114 wish our families a truly happy holiday season and a fabulous Winter Break! We are so grateful for your support and partnership!

DISTRICT UPDATES

SECURITY UPDATE
Our first priority is always student safety. One key tool we have is the Raptor system, our
identification system. Every person who enters either school building must check in and be
issued a nametag. We'll be updating this system in January, so we'll need EVERYONE to
re-screen their drivers licenses. Even if you've already done this, we'll need you to do it again
for the update to our system. Thanks--we know this can be a pain, but it's all for student safety!

5Essentials--ANOTHER GREAT WAY TO GIVE YOUR INPUT!
WE NEED YOUR HELP AGAIN!

Last year, our family participation in the 5Essentials survey beat the state average and got better responses than other local districts! We'll be sharing the 2018-19 data at the November Board of Education meeting and on the D114 website, but now it's time to hear from YOU again!

This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school.
The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
These reports will be sent to schools and districts in the spring of 2020 and will also be included in the State School Report Card.
We have chosen to provide the Parent Supplement survey to hear from YOU! If at least 20 percent of our families complete this survey, a parent supplement report will also be generated again!
Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
The Parent Survey Supplement will be conducted from now through January 15, 2020. To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin.
Students in grades 4-8 will also have the opportunity to complete a student version of the survey to share their input, as well.
We’d sure appreciate your input!

WE NEED YOUR INPUT!!!

December 13, 2019

Dear Families,

WE NEED YOUR INPUT! Our school district is facing some important decisions regarding upkeep of our buildings, curriculum, and staffing. Before our Board of Education makes its final decision on these matters, we want further input from our community. THANK YOU if you have already completed the survey!

Please go to this link (http://www.justafewmorequestions.com/foxlake) and complete an important survey. It will take less than five minutes. We need all responses by Monday, December 16. Feel free to share this link with any and every D114 resident!!

Thanks for your help and your input. The more we work together, the more we are able to provide the type of education our children need and deserve.

NEWS FROM THE VILLAGE
The building located at 248 E. Grand Avenue is scheduled to be demolished on Monday, December 9, 2019. Construction fencing has been placed around the building which has hindered navigation for students along that portion of the public sidewalk. At this time, there is no definite timeline for how long the demolition will take/how long the fencing will be in place. The Village has asked the contractor to move the fence back on to private property when any potential danger to pedestrians no longer exists.

If your child has any issues along this route, please contact us at D114 at 847-973-4028.
